Default Harley Chrome Twin Rail Saddlebag Guards 09-13 Touring

Hello friends,

I am trying to install a pair Harley Chrome Twin Rail Saddlebag Guards 09-13 on to my 09 rk. However, my front chrome guards do not have the holes for the rails. I was wondering if drilling on to the guards is a good option? or I must purchase part #(49202-09 & 49203-09). If anyone is willing to depart from a set, please let me know.

I welcome any suggestions!
Thanks!

If the one in the picture is yours, then the holes are already there.

you have an Ultra or a Limited and you have to pay extra for the stuff they take OFF the base models .... ya I have not figured that out either,

If you are confident in your measuring skills, and can center punch the holes and drill them level and thru both sides then go for it.

IMHO mark them on the bike, drill them off the bike in a vice, preferable with a drill press. Wrap the parts so as not to scratch

If you screw up, you have lost nothing because you would have bought new or take off parts to go with the rest of the rails.

Thanks for helping out. The image included in my post is not mine. I used it to demonstrate the part I need.

Thanks for the pointers! I was thinking in drilling the holes. I am going to see If I can barrow a set to use it as a template to mark the proper drilling points.

Thinking over, I think I should of purchase the RK rails which can be use with my hard and soft cases.

Thanks again friend for your sage advice,
G.

I hope so! I must be patient and wait until a set shows up. I am also open to a OEM rk set.
I will keep my fingers across.

If you don't have holes.. you may need the newer rails.
The ones I for my '18 have clamps that go around the front bar..

You are correct that the cutoff is at 2013 for those. I took mine off and sold here a couple years ago and got a good price for all the bars and hardware. I used a 2014 and up bar set without the wrap arounds but had to modify the lower retainer. Newer style lay lower and passenger comfort is better.

I see how people would pay a fair price for your nice bars. I am going to see if someone has a good set for me to purchase.

Thanks for your input.
