Question AE & D408f tires

I picked up a new to me bike Aug 17 from a dealer. They installed new tires front and rear with Dunlop 408 front and 407 rear which is the stock replacement i assume by harley. I have always run the American Elites. I have 6K on this set of dunlops now. I am going on a 3 week trip this summer out west and was going to replace the rear before i go. Can i put on a AE and leave to stock one on (D408) mostly will it handle bad in the rain with mixed tread pattern? I also have the HD extended warranty with wheel and tire coverage and was thinking if there is a issue would they give me a hassle on the road being a AE and not "stock HD recommended tire" for a replacement if needed thanks Jeff

I also replace the stock tires with the AEs and have had in the past one of each on my bike. Never noticed any problem mixing the two. And so far I've never needed the tire & wheel coverage on the non HD ESP plan I bought from Jim at Boardtracker HD but it is my understanding if I need to get a tire replaced under the ESP coverage the plan will pay for the stock tire and if I want the AE put on I will pay the difference in price to upgrade. Of course that assumes the HD dealer has in stock or can quickly get the AE tire I would want put on.

thanks that what i want to do then. AE on the rear. Im sure i can get another 6k off the stock front 408. 2016 i went out west with my 2008 ultra on AE tires front and rear loaded down with camping gear. Rode through sleet, snow, rain in Colorado then 105 degrees in Utah the following week. AE held up great. thanks

That’s how my 2016 SGS is now and no issues I will be installing a AE on the front when it needs a new tire
