Default Price of installation of Cams

Gang, I'm looking to compare the price that I was given for the installation of Wood's 222, pushrods and a tune. My local shop said $2K which I think is really high. The install is on a 2012 SG and I already have a dynojet.

Please, I'm not looking to compare cams, rather what you personally paid to have a shop do the install.

Thanks!

my indie did my cams and cam chain tensioners at the same time. I supplied all parts and he hit me for $250 labor.

That is extremely high... Is that all the parts plus labor?... or just labor? I did cams and changed rocker box covers and a few other things and it was less than 1k.

I would do the install myself and spend the 2k on a full big bore kit with cams and a Dyno tune

Ted - pretty simple job. S&S and FM have two great video's. I can let you borrow my inner cam bearing puller and installer as well.

My local indie just tuned my Road Glide, she was running way too rich from last "tune". He felt my cam choice and exhaust was leaving some HP on the table. For a new set of cams, used V&H exhaust, install and tune he figured around $1400.00. I didn't do it since my bike really is just for touring, I only have cams for getting up mountains packed heavy and the new tune is running real nice. But with all of the stuff I thought that was a fair quote.

That said, I did the cams in there now. Figure parts, your time, and then a dyne tune, which by me is $500. Good luck.
