I feel your pain.10k service on my 012 Ultra, I had my own oil, filter and gasket which I had bought from the dealer They installed the right hand valve stems which I gave them, mounted and balanced two new Avon Cobra tires which I bought from them and put in a new set of rear brake pads. How is 1.240 bucks sound ? It cost me less to mount, balance and aling four new tires on my car !
Dose anyone wonder what is wrong with Harley. Maybe the next time I should supply them with some KY, it might not hurt so bad..Lol

I take the approach of, "Nobody cares about my bike as much as I do." I've seen too much malfeasance by too many techs in my years of wrenching. I trust no one. Did they use a torque wrench? I do. Did they lube my jiffy stand? I do. Did they gap that spark plug exactly? I do. Did they use anti-seize on those spark plugs? I do. And on and on.
Bless you guys that trust those techs. I don't.

There was a time when they were all part of the sale, at no extra cost, however the increased sales of bikes world-wide over the years seems to have put paid to that.

"NGK spark plugs should be installed DRY, WITHOUT anti-seize. NGK reports that tech support personnel have received a number of calls from installers who have over-tightened spark plugs because of the use of anti-seize. Anti-seize is a lubricant and affects torque values by up to 20 percent."
It can also affect the heat range as it acts as an insulator.
But your the guy, I'm only a lousy distrustful tech. Bet you put anti seize on your lug nuts too, don't ya.

That’s what scares me out of buying a new Harley. I always buy new trucks but Harley NAILS you on the service. I am NOT a mechanic by any stretch but after some research and having/buying the correct tools a 3 hole oil change really is stupid simple. It’s cost me under $100 for a Mobil1 3 hole change and an air filter cleaning. I do it every season and takes an hour or 2.
