Default Does anyone use different windshields for different types of riding?

I currently own a 2013 Harley street glide and run a dark tinted, 6” slip streamer. So far, it’s great for up to about 65 mph. It’s easy to see over and great for in town. I was thinking about just picking up a 10” clear for those long highway hauls at 70+. Anyone does this? I dont know why I’m overthinking this. I guess maybe I have spent countless hours researching and many, many hours adding and taking things off my bike. Just wondering if that windshield (10” clear) is worth the purchase.

Comments, suggestions?

You're definitely gonna want a taller wind shield during love bug season and riding at night through LA, good god! I'm from New Orleans and go back and forth frequently, the ride on 49 is a killer... I don't think you would want all those bugs on your helmet or glasses, better to be in the wind shield.

My Glide and batwing are much older, but finding the right single size shield seems to me to be the way ahead. I have a qd windshield on my Sporty, but to be honest that is more useful for removing to clean the bike easily, than riding without it!

I've not tried different shields for local and highway riding. I found one shield that I thought did the best job in preventing helmet buffeting and stuck with that one shield. A 9" Long Ride Shields Ultra Recurve did the trick.

When I first bought my '05 Road Glide, I hated the stock tall windshield. Started a long journey to find something that worked for me. This resulted in a shorty most of the year, and the stock windshield for touring. But changing the windshields on a Roadie is a bit of a PITA. About 4 years ago I got Klock Werks 14" sport flare and I have concluded she works for all occasions. Minor compromise on height, noticeable in the rain, but I prefer to look over the top anyway. It took a lot of time and a lot of trial and error to find the one I could live with year round, Good luck.
