Default Question for denim paint owners

I have never had a denim paint bike. I am curious, how old is your denim paint and how does it look, just like new or has it changed?

They will last a long time. Don't use any other cloth on your bike except microfiber clothes. If you get bugs on it "dried" on just soak them first, wet them, or wet a towel and let it sit on them and then just hose off. Use NO wax at all. I use foam glass cleaner in between washes which works fine.
My bikes always have looked the same since day one.

I have a 2014 SG, and it looks brand new. Don't "rub" on it because it can buff some shiny spots in the paint that's about it. When I wash I spray the front of it with simple green (don't let dry and do in the shade) so I don't have to scrub too hard to get the bugs off. Then hand wash with just regualr Dawn dish soap and blow dry with my leaf blower. In between washes I use either windex or Harley's Denim detail spray and a microfiber cloth. Just don't use wax or any soap with wax in it, its honesty probably the easiest to keep clean since its don't show water spots and swirls. And no bikini bike washes because they usually use soaps with wax lol. Hope this helps.

I too use either Windex or Harley's Denim detail spray and a microfiber cloth and thats it. It has developed a nice patina in some areas. Overall easy to take care of except when I got gas on it. It took a few cleanings to get that stain off!

I bought denim blue in 07. Loved the color and actually just put bike in shop for custom paint last week, so 12 years and only started to look it's age from mishaps and normal wear in the past couple years. It was a very forgiving color IMO. Good luck!

was a thread on here a few months back about a guy who took his denim bike to a dealer and they effed up the paint and didn't say a word when he want to pick the bike up. Worth a read if you're heading the denim direction. Maybe someone has it bookmarked.

Denim paint specific coating is the best for protecting the paint.
Already mentioned nothing with wax in it, but I have to add gloss enhancers which some soaps have in it.
Simple Green or any other house hold cleaners should remain in the house and used what they are designed for. Paint correction as a side gig for 12+ years and never needed to use anything that I use in the house to clean. Correct tool for the job. Correct cleaner for the job. Simple

The cool thing about the denim is it's designed to "wear" and develop a patina over time, which means (theoretically) no two denim bikes will look exactly the same after a few years.
