Harley 110” head info.

I’m considering purchasing a set of take off 110 heads for a 117” build, the heads will be then going in for porting and I would like them at 84-85cc’s...

I have a few questions so I’m going to just list what I’m trying to figure out below... any questions anyone could help with would be great.

the bike is an 09 FLHX going 96”-117”

- difference in liquid cooled vs air cooled heads on an air cooled bike.

- removing ACR’s and adding manual, is it possible.

- can these be milled to 84-85cc’s.

-are there any years/casts that should be avoided.

Thanks

I take it you're asking about liquid-cooled 110" heads? I can't answer that but why would you want to change to manual CRs, especially if those heads already have provision for ACRs? I've been using ACRs for over ten years and they are just great! Also manual ones have to be accessible, so adding them may well require fresh mounting holes.

the heads will be going on an 09 that is not wired for acr and I have no desire to set it up. I’m used the the manuals as well. I would most likely try and find air cooled heads as I’m with you in not knowing if wet heads would work, or could be milled down that much.

I have ACRs on my 1990 Evo, adding the wiring was simple enough, although it did come with my S&S engine!

Using manual releases isn't a bad idea, but adding the ACR harness is not too hard. Did have to have the ECM flashed though which meant bringing it in to a dealer or doing it yourself with a PV or TTS or similar.

Do get air cooled heads to avoid issues.

lp, that harness looks familiar!

I was actually getting on here to post that I was unaware of how easy this job was to do (and the bike will already be tore down for the build for a few weeks anyways). And yes, after a few days of talking, searching I agree that air cooled would be the way to go if I decide to go with these heads. I can turn on ACRs with my power vision. I just don’t know how far down these can be milled???
