Rear fender marring from seat. Any improvement possible?
Naturally, my touring seat caused blemishes on the rear fender. Possibly scratches, although I cannot tell. Please do not tell me to repaint the fender. I just wish to know if there is any product that will improve this small issue. Obviously, this gets covered again by the existing seat. I am not going to use any kind of bib either in the future. Perhaps though, some kind of material added under the seat if you recommend this. The bottom of the seat looks just as it did when new. Guess this whole thing is common with these OEM seats.
Thank you.
Thank you.

I understand your pain. I had the same problem under the seat as well as the bottom of the tank, at the end of the console, where the seat touches that area. Once the damage is done I am not sure how to reverse it without painting it. I used some light compound and then waxed it really good and it seemed to help some but you could still see the area that have been rubbed. To help protect it from getting worse and what I did on my new bike was get some clear 3M protectant and cut it to fit those areas. A small piece on each side of the dash console, a piece on each side of the mounts under the seat where the rider backrest mounts and a piece on each side near the outer edge of the seat. I have not had any issues since.
Good luck
Good luck

An option are these H-D fender rub strips...

PPF - paint protection film.
Some Harleys already have this. Check with dealer as they may have the film cut to the correct shape.
The seat on my bike rubbed right through the clear coat. It is seen as a dull patch and no amount of clear coat polish will work, it will just make things worse.
I haven't put any film on my bike but have put sticky backed Velcro, loops, soft fuzzy part, on the seat.
I would not recommend a compound polish as it is very aggressive and will probably remove far too much clear coat. Get a polish described as swirl removal to remove the least amount of clear to make the fender look good. Leave the deeper scratches as well as you will almost certainly go right through the clear coat to the colour coat trying to remove them.
Now I say all of this because I have the machines to use the polish as intended. If you use it by hand then it takes a lot of effort to see results.
