Default Riding differences you notice after removing Tour Pak

2006 Ultra.

Just removed Tour Pak but have not yet ridden this way. I am curious if people on this site have any comments about any differences that might occur on the road with any style of riding. Or, any pertinent observations on the subject.

Thank you.

When I have the TP off my bike, the weight reduction, up high weight at that, is very noticeable. Other than the lighter feel, I haven’t noticed any other differences.

The whole rig seems to balance better and easier, and thre's MUCH less trouble from cross-winds.

Rides and handles much better in my opinion. Much easier to get on and off of. I have an artificial knee and now I can just swing my leg over and not step thru. It handle real well going on the Dragon, or the Snake and other named roads I have near by. I rarely put mine back on because I bought a Tri Glide for when I ride the wife.

I like the tour pack for the ability to carry more, and being able to lock up my full face helmet. I have mine mounted solo. Makes for a much more stable ride.

Other than mounting and dismounting, not that big of a difference for me. I like having it on to store my expensive modular helmet.

Big different in handling for me. Tight left to right or right to left switchbacks are much easier to throw the bike back and forth in. Parking lot handling is lighter etc.

Butttttt I love the storage and I have two more speakers and an amp back there so mine stays in more than it’s off.

Mine is never off any more, too handy for too many things. I just got used to the way the bike rides and never think about it. Really like having a place to lock up my helmet and carry things home that won't fit in the saddle bags.
