Default I dont trust my jiffy stand!! How to fix that?

Maybe a new guy question. Bought my first Harley...2011 SG 103. Was in a rush and sat on it and moved forward 2 feet. I guess I did not stop all the way when I set it down on the stand which moved it back 1/4 inch and over we go!.Took all my strengrh and an act of God to keep from hitting the garage floor. Freaked me out. Seems there should be more forward angle. Any one have similar issues and is there a fix?.....

If I understand your post you didn’t have the jiffy stand in it’s locked position when you leaned the bike over. Correct? If so, that’s operator malfunction. In reality, there is no better side stand in the industry than a properly functioning Harley jiffy stand. Once it’s locked in it will not let your bike fall over.

All it takes is once and I bet that doesn't happen again!!! I make sure I kick/push the stand all the way forward with my foot as I'm leaning the bike over....

The Harley jiffy stand is as good as it gets. You made a mistake. Learn from it and move on. Or buy a sidecar.

Seems every new Harley rider is uneasy with the Jiffy stand, at first. Learn to make sure it is locked, then trust it. And BTW, if your SG had fallen over on your garage floor it likely would not have suffered any damage. Ask me how I know this LOL.

The problem is that everyone is trained to notice a kick stand that is past center and relies on the weight of the bike to keep it there.

The Harley stand is not so, just take an actual look at it for a minute and you'll see that it locks into a slot and CANNOT fold back in and let the bike fall. Sure, it'll rock forward/back a few inches but it can't fall. I make a habit to watch the stand slide into it's home when I set the bike on it.

Mine moves a bunch, even other riders think the bike is going down. The lock tab has wiggle room on the top of the jiffy stand, I have considered waxing the stand, and taking some epoxy to kill the slop (an aluminum filled epoxy, very strong stuff), but as yet haven't done it.

Was in a rush? So it wasn't the stand! Sounds just like "Opperator Error" Would almost bet that it won't happen again.

I make sure my stand is "Locked In", then hold on to the front brake until I am off, then ease off of the front brake. I also hold the front brake when I or my passenger are mounting the bike.
Sounds like the OP needs to take a good look at the "Tab" of the stand, and accept it for what it is.
