Default whats this clicking sound

so it finally got above 45 today so started my 08 SG up and noticed in neutral there is this clicking sound.. any ideas?

Any strange sound in primary, start with compensator.

Check adjustment of primary chain then start digging... ipb, compensator, clutch hub bearing and say a prayer to the harley gods that you don't have to go any further than that lol.

Ride it and see if it goes away. I'm a little hard of hearing and didn't hear alot.

Shifter linkage rattling a bit, maybe? I really didn't hear anything out of the ordinary either.

Thanks guys.. I’m hoping it’s either clutch adjustment or chain adjustment.. it’s not a clunking noise like a compensator.. it’s more like a ticking sound.. once it warms up I’ll dig in a see what’s up..

would agree, didnt sound out of the ordinary. I just watched it again and noticed that you have Harleys shift linkage cover. They use cheap,thin metal attachments under the cover. Check one or both of these as they will and do crack and let the cover flop around. I know this because mine has done it several times. When one end of that cover is loose it will rattle.

yeah I removed that thinking the same thing.. and no change... I did notice it’s very difficult to find neutral.. so I’m going to start with a clutch adjustment and go from there..
