I agree. Looks stupid.
They should have at least put a door on there so you could put your wallet and other small things in there while riding.
And the fake speakers are just stupid.
Looks like a half *** job to me.

So I’ve heard there’s little plastic knock outs in the back of the storage area and an aftermarket probably even better stereo could be installed from a professional or even Best Buy realitively cheap(certainly better than 2k)if that’s the route you want to go... I dunno I sorta dig the look and a hard hitting after market system might be the way to go!

The early batwings were just an outside shell. I like those. You can still get aftermarket quick detach fairings. That would be the way I would go if I wanted one.

Or just take it off. Maybe put on one of those small cafe fairings, a cafe bagger.
Or just get a road king and put on what you want.

Looks ok to me. You get a blank slate to work with. It's set up so a DIN stereo is an easy install. What a lot of guys wanted.

Exactly what I did, bought a Road King and put on a Memphis Shades quick detach fairing.

that little storage pocket reminds me of the 70's GM pickups that came without air conditioning, they had a storage pocket where the A/C vents would normally be, loved those little storage pockets! always kept my smokes in there!

This is how the standards have always been. When I had my 05 standard I put an aftermarket HU in. It was pre-wires as I am sure these are pre-wired as well. But the "original" ones had spots, a dual seat and 13" shocks.

Basically it's a blank slate to do as you wish

It's basically a RoadKing with a fairing you can't remove.
So why not just get a RK & install a quick remove fairing you you can have it your way, like Burger King?
