Question Fat Spoke Wheels on 2018 Touring

Hi all,

I am new to the forums and I am new to my 2018 Ultra Limited......

I have searched and searched but can't seem to get a straight answer, I am thinking about putting on Fat spoke wheels onto my Ultra, but for some reason I can't seem to find anyone with the wheels available for a 2018 Dual disc bike with ABS.

I think I must be missing something with compatibility? Is there something fundamentally different with the 17up bikes (or maybe Rushmore up bikes) which means that Fat spoke wheels are not compatible. I have been looking at the Ultima King Spokes and Mammoth options, there are a few suppliers who list the wheels but they all seem to be unavailable?

I don't want to do anything to the suspension or the stock fender, so I am looking for an 18" or 19" option for the front (preferably being able to use my existing rotors) and a 16" rear the same as stock, again looking to be able to use my existing rotors and belt sprocket.

Apologies if this question seems really stupid, but "if you don't know.....ask"!

Steve

spokes mean tubes (unless the rims are sealed somehow). If you plan to tour (which is what an Ultra is ideally for) you cannot plug/patch a nail roadside. You'll need a tow.

You can go up to a 21" front without changing fenders.

I didn't think all spokes are tubes, especially the fat spokes.

Thanks for the info, a lot of the fat spoke wheels you don't have to run tubes.

I think I have worked out why most of the wheels about don't appear to fit the newer bikes, the rotors need to be changed and the ABS bearing.....I am in the process of working out exactly what I need and where to purchase.

A couple of the better quality mfg have the size your looking for in an 18" wheel. Sinister and RideRight are the two that make the fat spokes. I have the Sinister fat spoke wheels on my Deluxe. You can order online or call them to order.

Or call HogPro. They are a knowledgable wheel distributor and a sponsor for this site. They have decent prices for forum members as well.

Thanks, I have actually been having a look at some of the billet wheels which have a similar look to spoked wheels but no worries over tubes. I will have a look at Sinister and RW, but they are quite pricey for a spoked wheel......
