Your engine is not a transmission , and neither have a clutch - You are better off using a oil designed for that application.

Ok so who knows what the oil grade / weight of formula + is ?

Im sure it’s Dino oil and just food enough to do the job. But it don’t say anything specific on the bottle to it’s specs thus what is the equivalent in the market place.

I remember seeing an oil analysis on an oil forum that stated it was a straight 50w mineral oil.

From Bob is the oil guy...

“Harley Davidson FORMULA+ Trans and Primary Chaincase VOA

(Mini VOA via Amsoil)

Petroleum based.

Ca 169
P 230
B 210
S - some
Zn - essentially none
No other elemental additives.

Vis. within SAE 50 range.

Listed as a GL-1, does test out as a GL-3.

Harley owners may be better served by using a lube that meets GL-4 requirements and has more P and Zn, and a basestock resistant to shear.”

And yes, oils do make a difference in how your bike shifts and finding neutral.
My HD trained Indy is an Amzoil guy, but his recommendation is to put only Formula+ in the Primary.

So now that the engineers have spoken, I have been running Syn3 in all three holes for 142,000 miles on the bike seen below There have been no adverse affects and I’m still running the original clutch.
