If anything his tender connector melted because somebody tried to jump start it with the tender connector.
But it shouldn't of done as it should of been fused.

On a factory fit it goes through a smaller fuse, either 15 or 10 amp first but yes that then goes to the main fuse before the battery.

I bought a battery tender it came with a fused pigtail to be bolted directly to the battery.

They do. But the ASE connector is pretty common. My 18 Glide has one from the factory, and the dealer added a second one that was a "smart" tail that lit up if the battery was below 80% (or something like that). When I removed that piece of crap, I was surprised to see the factory one not connected to the neg terminal.

If the connector was just melted by the exhaust, and is still safe/usable, source a short extension. Connect the two. Coil up the excess behind the side cover, leaving the new end accessible.

After a quick search, six foot is the shortest I could find. Shorter would be better, as only about a foot is needed.

Edit: Here's an 18" on eBay.

On the Rushmore bikes the factory battery tender plug is fused through the 20 amp Accessories fuse & the 50 amp main fuse.

Aftermarket Battery Tender harness that connect directly to the battery terminals use a 7.5 amp fuse (stock size, unless replaced with wrong size fuse).

By golly you're right, although, the previous owner had it routed in such a way I couldn't see it...He had it sticking out, right behind the rear cylinder through that back plate. It was a PIA to get it back outta there... And I went to install my Aux Power for the Tour Pack, and proceeded to strip out a tour pack speaker pod bolt...fun times! I'll tackle that issue this weekend.

I connect mine to the ground and positive terminal. I do not like to have anything on the battery except the main cables.

If the insulation isn't melted through and you can't find the ends to replace it, move it away from the exhaust, cap the end and forget about it.
Install a new pigtail directly to the battery or have the dealer do a replacement if it's beyond your capabilities.

On my 2014 the battery tender plug is fused through the P&A 20 Amp fuse.

I have a 2015 FLHTK. It has a melted battery tender in the left side panel.
I want to replace it.
I'm having no luck locating where the ends are connected to.
Any help would be appreciated.

Should I just cut the melted end off and run a new tender from the battery terminals?
If your bike is the same as Vernal's then the tender will be a spare part to plug into connector 281B, so no cutting necessary.
