When I ran a VP, I had to use a derby cover spacer ring to keep my cover. https://aim-tamachi.com/collections/...asket-hardware

The first derby cover I had needed the spacer. I’ve since changed derby covers so I no longer need the spacer on the bike. What I do use the spacer for is a template to mark Cometic derby cover gaskets for cutting out some of the gasket to get the clearance needed for the VPC. I also bought a small heavy duty curved scissor on eBay for cutting the gasket which is made of metal covered in gasket material.

My Wife’s 2006 Ultra has a HD flames derby cover.
My 2012 Ultra has a custom derby cover from a guy no longer in business.
Both fit variable pressure clutches without spacers.
My HD variable pressure clutch came with a paper cut out template that you hold up to the back of the derby cover to check for clearance.
Im probably not much help.
