Default Extending Stock Cables for Apes

I found this link on a forum post after an exhaustive search and wanted to make sure I shared it. Apparently there is a lot of slack in that old front brake cable that i wasn't aware of. With a few simple mods and without removing the cable, you can get another 6-12" of cable. I am just going by what I saw in the video so not exactly sure but it looked like a foot of cable to me. I would still buy the control extensions, it's just cheap and easy to add on to this but the brake and clutch are a different story. I wanted to thank the original poster for this but couldn't find the post with the limited time I have on my lunch break. So, whoever you are, thank you.

Now, without further adieu,

The newer (‘14 and up) Road Glides are similar. You can clip a zip tie and gain a few inches so that new cables aren’t needed unless you go over 14” tall. There’s a video showing the RG installation also.

I did 16in apes and the stock brake line worked on my road king. It’s coiled up in the nacelle on the right side.

All good I suppose, but you went through all that trouble to put on hot looking apes and kept the stock garden hoses?

I posted up since this video wasn't easy to come across. I figured some folks could use the info.

As far as my ride, I didn't have to do that much since I have the 12" LA Choppers Twin Peaks. Since the bike is black and the bars are black there is no reason to add different cables, you can barely tell they are there in the first place and I prefer that to braided lines which would stick out like a turd in a punch bowl.

Black doesn’t look awful up against the chrome bars. I have it zip tied in and it rides the bars all the way down into the nacelle. Beats paying a hundo for a new line and 200 for the dealership to hook their fancy bleeder up to it.
