Default NOx Info for '01 Road King + Road Glide

Evening all ,

In London, they've introduced something called the "Ultra Low Emissions Zone" which basically means all vehicles wishing to travel in London must comply to Euro 3 Emissions standards or pay a charge. Most bikes after 2007 are fine but anything before has to be compliant. There are exemptions for NOx emissions lower than the regulation and I was wondering did anyone have the Nitrogen oxide values for a 2001 Road King and a 2000 Road Glide. Both are fuel injection with a MM EFi system.

Thanks in advance !

If I had to guess, I'll say you'll be paying the 'London Tax' on this one. I have no otherwise useful information.

I'd be hard pressed to pay ANOTHER tax on something that I've owned when their rules change. If I was in your shoes, I would probably start looking for a new country. (ie : Somewhere people don't like tea taxed...For real, we have our own BS taxes over here though)

Enough jabs. I think you're going to have a hard time bringing a couple 20 year old bikes up to code for emissions. Sucks the government wants to twist your arm in an attempt to force you to upgrade your vehicles.

You're not wrong mate, although I'd rather the government moved to another country - preferably Antarctica!

I was hoping that the draconian California emissions rules which Harley appear to build their bikes to comply with could make it exempt from this bullshit tax that our government want to impose. Sadly, there's no info out there for us owners of older bikes.

I think they are Euro2. My 2015 103 is Euro3.

Rip out the MM, put a carb on it, tune it to pass smog, then tune it to run right

It doesn't work that way. OP likely needs documentation of compliance from the manufacturer or EPA.

Does this help? It appears the standards were the same from late 1970's to 2005 and varied by engine size.

Believe me, I've thought about doing that for more than one reason but the cost of doing that in the UK is pretty hefty and I don't think it would affect the omissions to any great degree.

Thanks for that mate, but I think that the local authorities require official documentation from the manufacturer but I'd rather find out first before asking HD and knowing them, they'd charge for any such documentation.

We are slowly starting to face congestion tax in New York City and motorcycles will not be exempt or discounted. Time to Move.
