The only problem I ever had was that the difference between run and brake was not enough. If the person behind you isn't paying attention, its hard to tell the difference after you hit the brake. I switched it for the Tailstopper. One running light, three brake lights. Very attention grabbing when you hit the brake.

If you are using original incandescent lamps, they will get hot and may melt the plastic lens if they are too close

I am running CD LEDs all around with their module and there is a significant difference with intensity between run and brake and turn signals and no heat issues.

My 2018 FLHXS came from the factory with incandescent 1157s front & rear. Essentially run/turn up front, and run/turn/brake in back. Under normal conditions, the housings would feel warm to the touch, but never hot. Lenses looked like new when I recently changed to LEDs, and the original 1157s were pretty close to the lenses. I would expect hot housings, and possible lens distortion, if both filaments remained on (twice the heat) for an extended period of time.

I had an issue with my lenses melting, but found that my brake light switch got stuck, and was lighting them up like the brakes were applied all the time.

I had a red dot light come on my speedo that brought it to my attention. Not sure if that’s a 14+ thing, or if that warning light has always been there.

Default I'm already running LED's

and the casings still get hot. I has the module from Custom Dynamics and replaced it with the HD one thinking it was the problem, but the same thing is happening.

Best guess is that the brake light brightness is on all the time, most likely a brake light switch problem, not the module. Have you recently changed handle grips or otherwise messed with the right side switch housing?

so I don't see that being the issue.

Switch to LED bulbs (Amazon) no heat no problem ---except you will also need a voltage modifier ( Also Amazon --https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ) Then really no problem.

I installed the Kuryakn Run/Stop/Tail light on my Softail and it has the strobe flash which makes people notice when I brake.
