2003 Road King starter issue
Replaced the starter assembly but still sounds like the starter clutch is not working all the time. Jumped the starter from the battery and same issue. Thanks for any input.

1.8 kw starter
I purchased a 1.8 kw starter and a 15/16 oil spout spacer to install on my road king. I am hoping this corrects the starter issue that sounds like a bad clutch. I believe since my road king was kitted up to a 103 engine it may have caused my starter issues.

How does a starter sound like a bad clutch? A little better description might help.From your comments, all I can guess is that you need a starter clutch,not a starter.

Sounds like a bad starter clutch
The starter that was on the bike when I bought it and also the new starter I purchased both work about 70% of the time. They both sound exactly like a bad starter clutch from videos Ive seen when they fail. Right now I think the change from 88ci to 103ci could be what has caused the issue so hope the High torque starter is the fix.
