Default 10" Mini Apes

Just ordered WO515's. Anyone have installation advice? Going on my 09 RK with TBW and ABS. From what I've read I only need extensions for the hand switches.

Where's the best place to order the extension wires?

I just bought the HD ones. They where around $30 and worked great.

I think I did the LA Chopper deal on mine. Soldier the wire (staggered). Someone on here did a great write up on it that I used.

if you are going to run the wires inside the bars, you will need to first disconnect your wire connectors and remove the pins to feed them through. consult the service manual for pin removal.

1. make a diagram of the pin positions and colors before you pull them from the connector. THIS IS VITAL!
2. blow a strong piece of string through the bar openings with a compressor.
3. tie and tape the string to the ends of the wires at the hand grip side.
4. Coat the wires down with lithium grease.
5. feed them slowly from the top to bottom by pulling (easy) one side and pushing the other.
6. Consult the diagram you sketched earlier and replace the pins in the correct locations in the correct connector.
THIS IS VITAL!
7. repeat for the other side.

Hope this helps.

Thanks S67.

My stock bars are internally wired already so I just need to extend and copy on the new bars.

When I put T-Bars on my Fatboy years ago I followed the plan you just proved except I didn't use a lube. That 90° turn on the T bars was a PITA so I'm expecting this to be much easier.

Thanks again for the advice and I'll probably try out the lithium grease this time around.

Following.

I would eventually like taller bars, I have the Heritage style bars on my 2013 RKC but would like another 2-4". Dealer wanted around $800" labor just to install extended clutch and brake lines( plus parts) so its on the back burner for this year.

How confident are you that the clutch/brake lines will fit with the 10""chubbys? Was under the impression anything beyond my Heritage style bars needed the +4 or +6.
