Master Cylinder Crystallization

Thought I’d share what I’m attempting to clean up and flush from a 2006 Ultra. I’m not finished but I’ll be surprised if the master cylinder or brake calipers won’t need to be rebuilt. Of course the customer will assume it’s something we did and nothing to do with the years of neglect. In Florida, I flush my brakes and clutch lines once a year.

Nasty!! I'd show the customer and educate him/her on the moisture problems in Florida. That's pretty close to be in the non serviceable category.

Probably the original '06 factory fill. Piston area will be pitted and unserviceable. Betting on a new m/c maybe calipers!

Pay me now or pay me later....

That's a good pic to show to the folks who say, "I never flush the brake fluid on my car, why should I do it on my bike?"

Lack of maintenance is all that is moisture.

That’s exactly why I posted it here. Imagine what the inside of a ABS system would look like. Luckily this bike is not ABS.
