Another dreaded finding neutral post.

2013 Ultra with a barnett clutch. PO put redline shockproof in the trans, and redline primary case oil in the primary. Neutral is damn near impossible to find with bike running, even when I blip the throttle. I have read that putting in type F ayf, like b&m trick shift, helps. Is the redline primary case oil too thick? Anyone here put royal purple atf in?

Red line is basically ATF for the primary, so I don't think any other ATF will help.

I've recently tried Redline in the tranny and I hate it. Can't get neutral for shit unless I do it as I'm coming to a stop and the gear changing just feels extra clunky. I'm going back to Lucas Oil synthetic ASAP

Clutch adjustment will play a big part in finding neutral.

Finding neutral has all to do with the clutch, not very much with the trans. Blipping adds to the problem, puts more force against the dogs,[inside the trans]which you are trying to move. Easiest way to put it in neutral is at idle, while the bike is still rolling.

Use Mobil 1 SYN ATF along with 4 ounces of LubeGuard highly friction modified ATF supplememt in the primary. Fill to the level shown above... you'll like it.

I used syn 3 when I replaced my stator because I had a qt sitting on the shelf. I only wanted to use it to clean out any foreign particles. I left it in for about 150 miles I went back with red line primary fluid and the bike feels 100 times better. Neutral is easy, shifts are quieter, and the pull of from start is smother and it grabs faster. I would recommend the red line primary fluid. that being said, I would check your clutch adjustment. I used bel ray transmission fluid this last change. [in the tranny]

It’s between 1st and 2nd regardless of my clutch adjustments or what fluids I use... It’s been like this on all my bikes

Talk to the bike more.
Ask it.
Been working for me.
