I once had a similar problem. When I had it clamped in the lower tree. I had the threads actually clamped in the bottom. Like literally in the clamp part, It was causing pressure on the tube where the threads are. I slid the tube up into the middle portion. Re clamped and off it came.

Problem solved! There was no way I would have ever gotten this off without the proper socket and impact driver. The problem was the plug threads cut wrong and it bound up bad. Took it to my Indy and they got it off and had to chase the threads on the tube and replace the plug.
these guys are straight up great dudes, if you need any work done and you are in Conroe, Texas, go see them at Faith Cycles. They will do you right!

I have heard of those folks. They are just up the road and I've been by there a couple of times. I am pulling and rebuilding my front tubes in the next few days and I will keep them in mind if'n I run into problems.
