In 2016, what was the difference between the Road Glide and Road Glide Special?

 

Special has pinstripes, 6.5 radio standard, ABS linked brakes standard, black painted inner fairing and rear shocks.

 

Check me but, isn’t the rear shock system different. The special has the rebound adjustable. The standard model has air shocks.

I thought the specials had different bags as well that hung below the exhaust pipe.

Maybe not on the 2016 Specials. Might be a newer thing.

Not so fast... my 14 sgs doesn’t have extended bags. Don’t believe they came out with that feature on the specials until 2017. But I may be wrong.

 

Hand adjustable shocks, pin stripes, 6.5 radio, painted inner fairing, linked abs brakes were all standard on the specials. These were the only differences I believe. If you are looking at buying one or the other you can buy a standard and make it a special with the exception of the pin stripes cheaper than the typical cost difference. Check the classifieds and you can get the radio and shocks cheap.

 

The only adjustment on the special shocks are for compression, rebound is controlled by the r/h shock with no adjustment on my 2017 Special.
