Trade 14 Roadking for 12 CVO Ultra?
https://annarbor.craigslist.org/mcy/...910108784.html
In the description, mostly stock, low miles, bells, whistles, want's to trade for "Road Kiing Special"
Some of you have seen all the work done on my bike. CVO wheels, SG tins, lower/chrome forks, narrow primary, apes, heated grips, CVO wheels and dash tourpak, lowers, LED's, etc etc,, and recent new paint. Would anyone think this would be a good trade?

I'm of a different mindset here...so because you asked for an opinion...I think you would be coming out on top in that trade. Without knowing the mileage on your Roadking (not a Roadking Special regardless of how special YOU believe it to be) the CVO Ultra shows only 7400 miles on the odo. I personally would always choose an Ultra over a King and this is a CVO afterall with a premium factory paint job not something out of a spray can. If you can actually make this trade then kudos to you. That CVO looks to be a nice bike well taken care of. Good luck!

One of the best arguments on NOT trading as said is I have a Rushmore (15K) and he has a pre-Rushmore. So that makes a big difference. I started with a Heritage, then 3 Ultra's when I did more 2 up touring with my now ex. So I was ready to downsize. I saw a mostly stock 10 SG CVO, single owner at a dealer. It was there for 3 months or more and I stripped my 2011 Ultra Limited, and drove there to trade in. They took a payment that morning, Dang It!.
So that is when I saw this RK and been digging it ever since. My kids live all over the place so it might be wise to get another Ultra and having a CVO with all the gadgets would be a nice cruise. Of course I would need Kiss Boots to reach the floor until I could lower it. LOL. Still thinking about it.

I have heard all about the lifter issues, no so much the crank. I personally believe the longevity has a lot to do with beating the bike all the time vs riding easy. My RK has lived a pretty pampered life. Seldom go up to even half throttle. This was supposed to be my forever bike. (cause I can't afford a new one anymore, lol)

With the handling difference claimed by the bigger front fork on the Rushmores, you would have to ride the other bike to see if it meets your minimum requirements. Then there is buying from a private party-no warranty. Would you by buying a set of problems he is trying to unload? It seems no one builds THE BIKE you want, considering all of the mods you have done to your current ride. How much money do you need to spend on this other machine to make it "yours" and is that much readily available?
