Unhappy 2018 M8 HD Road Glide

Hey guys,

How are you all?
Happy belated 4th to everybody!

Have a quick question, hope you guys can help me with it.

I got a 2018 M8 Road Glide, and about 3 days ago, I washed it, since then when I turn it over, the idling is erratic starts at about 1000-1100 RPM, thendrops back and forth down to about 700 then 600 and up and then back down to 400 and shuts off completely.

Now those 3 days have since passed, and it is still doing the exact same idling problems - up and down, very erratic and shuts off (exactly the same as noted above!).

At first, I had a check engine light but that has since disappeared, however the idling has been on-going?

QUESTION: Would this be part of a bigger problem or am I just panicking?

Right NOW: All its doing is idling like ****....any ideas whats going on?

Thanks
John S

Did you ever replace the throttle body?

My first guess would be a switch pack issue, they are notorious for having issues related to water. But if it’s still doing it after days of drying out, I will say you need to take it in, or have the dealer pick it up, being a 2018, It is still under warranty.

sounds like you got some water where its shouldn't be. I gather you used a hose or pressure washer.

If the check engine light came on, it should have stored the code. Check for a stored code and it might point you in the right direction.

He did something to his throttle body assembly a while back and was looking for parts. He started numerous threads. He never did come back and respond to any of the questions, suggestions or advice he got in those threads, so who knows, he may have FUBARed the throttle body and hasn't solved the problem.
