Is a Fuel Moto 107 kit worth cost over cams and lifters?

I am looking at a few possible projects for this winter but would like to get opinions from those in the know so I can better plan my budget. I have a '15 RK with a stock 103 and stock high flow AC. It has the V&H Pro Pipe and V&H Fuel Pack but no other mechanical upgrades. I will be adding a breather regardless. While this is a big upgrade from my previous bike as is, '07 WG w/stage 1, I guess I am looking for just a bit more across the spectrum. I am trying to figure out if the Fuel Moto 107 kit is worth the extra cost over just doing cams w/lifters? I'm not a mechanic by any means but I can follow directions so I will be doing the work myself. Essentially I guess I'm asking if the bores and cylinders in the 107 kit ($1299) are worth the extra $550 vs their cam and lifter kit ($749)?

The extra cube's will give you more but the real performance kick is in the heads/cams.

I installed the fuel moto 107 kit 4 months after purchasing my 12 streetglide new. Great kit, but heads definitely need to be done to reap the full benefits. I had the woods 777 cams first and went to the 999-6A cams later with head work, it ran great.

Pretty easy answer is look at the Dyno sheets. Are you going to get it professionally dyno'd after?

For 4 cubic inches? No. I was coming from a 96, and the only reason I ended up going to 107 is I couldn't find a decent set of used/takeoff 103 pistons/cylinders at appropriate price.

I don't see the reason to go with a couple more inches unless your pistons/cylinders are worn and need a freshening. Maybe from a 96 like someone else mentioned, but not otherwise.

There's plenty of good cam recommendations around here. My last two bikes already had SE255 cams in them and they run/ran great, but there are better cams out there.

For you application with a 103, CAMS and head work should suffice. Good thing is you already have a great exhaust with a 2/1

Here's my opinion. I have a 2012 SG. I just went with Woods 777 cams, lifters, tune. The bike feels like a rocket over stock. Since its Woods 777, they don't kick on until about 2.5K - 3K RPM. I'm running S&S MK45 mufflers. I put the decibal bafflers back into the mufflers and that significantly helped out with the low end. Over the Winter, I'm also going to do the FM 107 Kit with heads. That'll really make the bike and cams come alive.
My regret is not doing everything all at once. Because now, I have to pay again to get the bike re-tuned. So, in my opinion just get it all today all at once.

Yes, I will be getting it Dyno'd after, I just plan to do the install myself.

It’s not just the 4” bump it’s also going to higher compression. The 107 will walk all over a cam kit on your 103.

How much performance do you want? My 96 with cams and 2:1’s has plenty of punch even 2 up and going up hill. Do I want more? Yes! At rebuild time I’m going big and powerful but I’m also going to build a bottom end that can handle it.
