Default Started nickel and diming me.....so I spent thousands...

I went ahead and traded in my '09 Street Glide of a '19 Road Glide Special (wicked red denim)....something I said I'd never do. Had 55k on on the '09 and it just started to have little things going wrong that I didn't want to deal with or worry about. I loved that damn bike but it was time to go...I learned to do a lot of work on it with a ton of help from this forum (like my salesman said...change is good, transition is a bitch). Now I get to start all over again . The shop is putting on some Tab BAM Sticks, heavy breather and some 12" KST bars. Can't wait to get on it!

Question about first service.....I've been changing my oil(s) and thinking I can just do that for the first service as well....is there other stuff that the dealer should perform? Can i do the oil change and have them do the 'other stuff'?

Thanks all-
Steve

you can have the dealer do the entire service, or you can do the oil change and have them do the checks and adjustments, or you can do it all yourself. whatever you're most comfortable with. there are checklists out there that you can use, or you can just go by the chart that is in your owner's manual.

congrats on the new bike. I was very happy with my 13, and had no plans to get rid of it either. unfortunately, it got totaled, so ended up with a 19 roadglide special. hope you find yours to be as awesome as I find mine. '

did you need to get the primary vent done on yours?

Congrats on the new bike, hope you have a great time with it.

The first couple hundred bucks you should spend on the new ride is for the HD Service Manual. Takes most of the guess work out of scheduled maintenance.

Time for some pictures of the new girl.......

No, I did not...and not sure what you mean either.

I'm definitely comfortable changing oil, I'm just thinking it might be best to ahve someone else do all the checking after the first K....they'll probably charge me $300 to do that though.....

The vent is "Suppose to" fix the trans primary oil migration. Buddy has a 18RG hasn't had any issues. There is a lot of talk on it on the tech forum as this one also

FWIW, when I bought my ‘19 road glide ultra, I checked the tranny fluid at 500 miles and it was transferring. Dealer installed the vent, and it’s been good since. I have a trip scheduled in a week from VT to KS and back and I’ll double check it then to make sure, but all seems good so far.

Not me either.
I won't keep anything with wheels that starts costing me money.

A guy I ride with sometimes just had to have the vent done on his 18. He had checked the transmission fluid and there was nothing on the dipstick, it had gone into the primary. Even with extended warranty he was told this is only covered for the first year, and he was over by a couple months, but the dealer called HD and he's getting it covered. Guys with M8's should keep an eye on the trans fluid level for the first couple of years.
