Searched but have a few questions for those that have upgraded their headlights..the stockers suck.
Is a LED bulb swap good enough? I dont mind spending the bucks on complete headlight set but it seems like there are a lot of knock-offs out there..
What did you guys go with and are you happy with it?
I went with a knock-off for $165 CDN and the light is significantly better than the old halogens. I figured if these cheapos were no good, then I would pony up and get something else, but a year later I have had no issues.
With my 05 I went with the HD Daymakers which were literally night and day difference. Then I had an 08 that I put a generic light on. Plenty bright but caused radio interference. With the 17 I went with Custom Dynamics Truebeam and very happy. These are both quite pricey but worth it to me.

I have them on my '05 FLTRi
WAY brighter, than OEM, with a much larger field of vision....
money well spent (unless tou have a LOT of money.... then get the Custom Dynamics set.... the SUNPIE is about 85% of the CD, for 1/8 the price
Be careful with cheap replacement bulbs, as many of them do not focus a decent beam, also cause dazzle. A proper replacement light unit IMHO is better, although likely to be more expensive. I have Trucklites on my Glide, but I'm not sure they make suitable units for an RG.
the 'best', not the cheapest, is to upgrade your headlight mounts to the 2010 and up, which will accomplish 2 things, get rid of the bubble, and allow you to remove your headlights without taking off the fairing. once you've got that part, then go with the hd daymakers. they'll run you a pretty penny, but they sure do put out a lot of light.
this is of course, my opinion. reinforced by actually making the switch from hd halogen to the led daymakers and being extremely happy with the results.

I tried looking up these 2010 mounts, only came across more headlights. I'm interested to learn more.
