Obviously locking the fork is the most secure way, but I'm not worried about my 900lb bike walking away without me in the places I go.
before hd starting putting security systems on, that's exactly how it went. if you didn't lock your forks, you stood a good chance of not having your bike where you parked it when you came back.

it shouldn't. it is so easy to start your bike with the override. too many people just don't take the time to learn how to use it. it's a lot more manly to call the wife and ask her to bring the key to you, than it is to actually read a few pages of the owner's manual beforehand.

https://www.harley-davidson.com/us/en/index.html

Click "Owners"

The VIN feature lookup is hidden under the "Maintenance Schedule" heading under the "Maintenance Schedule" tab.

Or, go here-

https://serviceinfo.harley-davidson....cle/lookupForm

Fill in your VIN and, when you have a picture of your bike pop up, click the menu icon in the upper right corner and some of the factory-added features will show.

Got that????

lol

Cool key fob

Appreciate all the info.I did enter the vin number on the website and double checked at the dealership and apparently it was not factory installed.I was hoping it was so I could just replace the fobs and have them activated, but since to purchase and have it installed is knocking hard on the $500.00 door I think for now I'll stick with old fashioned key and fork lock.

Unless you lose your key, that system will never leave you stranded. You should do a search to see how many have been stuck, unable to use their OWN machines because of the security system. MOST times it is OWNER ERROR, they never learned how to use a PIN to get around a dead battery in the fob. (Covered in DETAIL in the owners manual), the most IGNORED publication on Earth.

I suspect the owners manual is also the most discarded publication on Earth! The number of members who claim to never receive the second key or manual when making a secondhand purchase is scandalous. When I part-exchanged my Dyna for my Sporty a few years ago (both bikes bought new) I handed over manual, FSM and service receipts. A few months later the new owner got in touch to ask about a few mods I had done to the bike (details included with the receipts) and none of that paperwork had been handed over by the dealer. Somewhere, over the rainbow, there is a mountain high pile of old manuals....
