Default WHIM Cable Installation

I was able to get 20% off the WHIM cable from local HD dealer so I bought it. They also turned on the WHIM via the digital technician. Going to install this weekend, doesn't seem to be that complicated. Any hints or suggestions or anything I should look out for during the installation? 2019 SGS.

Thanks for your help and Happy Holidays.!

Verty easy install, you can't really make a mistake. . Just make sure all connectors for everything you took apart are pluged back together fully (feel the click).

Have you bought the H-D Sena headsets yet? You know they are the only ones that fully work with the WHIM.

It's a pretty easy installation, however, they will tell you to route a cable all the way back to the right side cover, that allows for updates to the WHIM module, I would just tuck that cable in the fairing. So far, I have not seen any WHIM updates from H-D, and honestly it's considerably easier to remove the fairing then properly route that cable back where they want it, assuming the WHIM will ever need an update.

I ran the wire back to the right side cover in under the plastic backbone cover. It's really very simple as the tank is very easy to remove even full of gas. One thing you should do that probably takes longer than putting the whim in is update the software for the whim and the headset if you have it and Maps. Doing that will ensure everything will work properly together and then have fun figuring it out🤪

I was able to run mine back to just under the seat on right side. Most convienent location to get to, IMO. I did not even have to lift the tank.

ya I ran it wher they said too, not a big deal, I figured it’s where it’s supposed to be in case a dealer looks there for whatever reason, they will see it where it’s supposed to be

Bought my first Harley ever (2020 RGS) and the tank is easiest to remove of any big bike I've ever owned. So, ran the WHIM update cable down to the right side.

talking about the him...anyone that has it installed or uses it, can you tell me does the audio plug for a wire headset still work? On long rides and the battery dies in the bluetooth headset I would want to use my hard wired headset, just curious if it still works after I install the WHIM?

On a long ride, you can plug your Sena in and use it will charging. So no difference than having wired. Rode from Philadelphia to Key West and back last year (on a KTM but with the Sena 30K). No issues with charging on the go when needed.
