Metzler ME880 Tires Air Pressure Service Bulletin
 

I'm probably like the husband, the last to find out about this. While over at my Indy wrench the other day he asked me what air pressure I was running in my neww ME880s, I told him I checked the Metzler website and used their recommendation of 43 lbs in the rear tire and 38 lbs in the front. He then told me there was a service bulletin out that said 48 - 50 lbs in the rear and 43 lbs in the front. This is of course for heavy loads, two-up riding, or if you like me,a big guy, so for me it's the right pressure. Did everyone already know about this?

it varies by tire size, that's real close to what I run in my 18" 880's. Actually up to 52 in rear.

When I checked mine on the Web site it ran higher than your tires. I run my front at 44 and 50 back. You can always send an-email to check. I will tell you my Harley dealer installedmy 880and only put the air pressure in as if it was a Dunlop.

I'm confused. I run the 18"880's on mine with the 3.5 in the front, and the 4.25 in the rear. Looking on the tire, it says MAX PSI 42 for both front and rear.

I should be running these tires higher than what the max says?

I appreciate the clarification.

Those tire pressures look about right. Metz tiresneed a little higher pressure than the stock D-lops.

I have routinelybeen able to get9,500-10,000miles out ofrear D-lops. However, I switched to Metzler on the rear to try it out the ride and handling.Even with correct pressure and no two-up riding, the rear Metz started showing cords at 8,300 miles. It seemed to handle and ride good, but tome the D-lop that replaced it handles just as good.

I put ME 880's on my 06 and there was much improvement all around on the way it handle. Tires were put on a Indy and he told me to run R-50 F-42 this was on a bagger said I might have to experment a little if had handling problems but never had any problems.

I like the metz ME880's because I don't feel the rain grooves. With the D lops everytime I hit grooved pavement the bike tracks funny. The ME880's roll right through it, plus better rain traction, that is big in Washington State.

These tires recently saved my life I honestly believe that. I went into a fishtail on a 55mph road behind some cars slamming their brakesand these tires hugged the road as I slid into the car in front of me. Luckily I veered just in time to avoid wrecking. I credit the brakes and the tires truly. I haven't checked the pressure recently but I can tell you the downward pressure on my ass that day was at its max. In fact, I think my cheeks are stillclenched.

just got home from a 3000 mile trip. 48psi in the rear and 43 in the front, adjusted every morning. nice smooth ride and no noticable wear. 130 on the front and 140 on the rear. 2 up loaded. me880's rock.

Metzler marathon 888 air pressure
 

I have both metzler marathon 888 on front and rear of my 17 ultra limited custom. 120/70/21 on front and 200/50/18 on rear. I've been running them at factory specs psi but believe those are for dunlop. I'm 240lbs and do ride 2 up and luggage about 50% of the time. I've noticed at higher speeds 70+ I get a wobble in rear. What would you folks recommend me to have my psi at? Had the bike looked over from harley dealer and everything is tight and in line. I'm almost positive it's my tire pressure.
