Changed the speedo on a ‘20 Road King to the combo speedo/tach, was dead simple plug & play install. All seemed fine, until I noticed the bike started without the security fob nearby. Re-read the instructions a few times, and it states that the security light will flash for up to 15 seconds. Never saw that light flash, so I started testing a bit, turning the bike to Ign, Acc, etc. the red security light never came on, and the bike still starts without the fob present. After the 31.1 mile countdown, now the TC light remains illuminated, but the bike doesn’t have RDRS. Anyone else have this experience or tips? Dealership wasn’t much help unless I can leave the bike with them. This is literally a one-plug installation, couldn’t shank the install if I were dead-drunk... so what’s happening here?

 

I just installed the same one on my 19 Road King, everything seems fine so far.

 

This is the second thread on this issue in the past couple of weeks. The OP in that thread never posted back with a solution.

PM him and ask if he found a solution or not.

 

Found one other mention of this happening, no solution though. Will have to let the dealer look at it

 

Thanks for the link, I searched the forums but didn’t find this. I could live with the TC light but the fact that the bike starts without the security fob is troubling.
