Stuck Oil Filter
i decided against buying another wrench, as the filter is so crumpled from me torquing on it, nothing will fit at this point.
and I mean I was cranking on that thing with the strap wrench. So much so that I was afraid of breaking or bending other parts of the bike.
The workspace is too tight to get channel locks in there. In fact, I tried the hammer and chisel approach, but again space is so limited I only managed to dig into a very small area on the top.
i did all of this after warming the bike up for a few minutes.
so I guess Im left with just shredding that filter to bits and pulling the remains off the main body with pliers, or give up and take it to a pro. Any last words of wisdom? Thanks again in advance.
Screwdriver, if there is enough of it left to leverage against once you punch it through both sides.
If not, shred it all off and get to the metal face and work on that... vise grips or hammer/punch scenario, but be carful not to go beyond the filter face bracket and into the bike.
good luck, take your time, and breathe...

I sat back thought about a tierod tool drove it into the filter then a 2ft rod through the handle of it and finally 3 hernias layer got it off..

Thats the damage from torquing on it with a strap wrench. You can see by the thread where I started chiseling. Thats the only angle where I could get any purchase. Going to try the screw driver next.
Heres the space Im working in. I agree taking off the wheel and fender and other components would make it a lot easier. At my level, I think thats too much to handle.
then if no hole in the handle lock on some visegrips and a bar on them for leverage.. it will come off.
Where are you located?
you can buy cheap tierod fork from harbor freight or eBay
