Default How accurate is fuel range indicator

Before I started on my regular 65 mile loop other day fuel range showed 105 miles to empty. After 65 mile loop this is what happened. I usually ride very casual and don’t go past 3k rpm.

When it read 105 miles to empty, it was basing that on your previous mpg. It can change on load, elevation, temp, city vs hwy etc along with how hard you hit the throttle. It’s not an exact indicator.

I start looking for fuel at 1/4 tank, 1/4 tank to E is very unpredictable and before you know it your low fuel warning pops up.

The name gives it away, ‘indicator’. As above works off previous mileage etc so only ever a rough guide really.

It’s very pessimistic.

That looks accurate. You started with the computer showing 100 ish miles and drove 60 then took 5 1/4 gallons. Perfect

That looks accurate. You started with the computer showing 105 miles and drove 65 then took 5 1/4 gallons. It’s based on your previous ride. Doesn’t take much to sway it a either way.

Between half and a quarter tank I’m thinking about stopping to fill up

It`s not as reliable as a manual petcock with "Reserve"
