Torx are excellent design. However, when the key walls begin to fail, they are terrible fastener to work with. Personally, I find "Allen" head bolts much easier to work with when damage. If you have the time, a good penetrating fluid and manual impacts can prepare an old torx that have been exposed to very hot applications. On my sport car, I have used a tool BOLT BUSTER that applies heat around the bolt in the caliper to facilitate bolt removal. However, I do not like to apply direct or indirect heat to the Harley rotors do to the proximity to the wheel bearing. Sadly, many people do not have the time to wait for penetrating fluid to properly soak a stubborn bolt. Lucky, I do have a low price wheel bearing removal tool but I try not to use it if I can avoid it.

TOOL BUSTER Tool. It does work but it not cheap. I also have used Weller D550 Professional Soldering Gun 260/200 that worked slowly but it got the job done.

It’s likely from the ethanol in the fuel… over time, it breaks down the plastic.

A big reason why ethanol gas causes damage to carburetors in lawn equipment and yes, carbureted motorcycles.

Soldering gun does work pretty good. I've used that trick many times.

More TP wiring today…
Still waiting on a couple of final pieces like the 1” heat shrink, skinny wire loom, the diodes to allow the corner lights to work as both TS and brake lights, but I got the fuse, lid light switch and Dual-USB port installed.

I added the backing panel just to provide additional thickness & rigidity, as the TP liner itself isn’t as sturdy as one would think.

I also added a trim piece around the liner to clean up the rough, factory edge.
