I am wanting to put some retro style tank emblems on my 14 Ltd. Does anyone know if there is a retro style emblem that will fit? Attached picture if a repop for an old bike but shows what I am looking for.
HD sells reproductions of all of their "Vintage" emblems and stick on back plates. What you poste dis form them. Anything HD used in the last 20-30 years can be found at Dealership or the Bay.
With the exception of a Sportster peanut tank which basically has a flat side, emblems pretty much will fit any tank. You just have to move them around to find the spot that the curves match. Some badges like what was on the late 60's Shovels will actually bend a little to fit your curvature. I have the emblems you posted on my '97 Wide Glide and Switchback emblems on my Road Glide. Easy project, good luck.
i have 1963 emblems on my 2019 eglide standard. that is my birth year. the emblems come flat with a mount that sticky tapes to the tank. there is no good place that the emblems can sit flat so you do have to bend them. i figured out where i wanted them to go and then started to gently roll the emblem and mounting plate on a wine bottle. it just took some patience and a lot of fit / roll / repeat. i had also done this on my '07. same process. the one suggestion though it to make sure you use blue locktite when you put those little screws in. don't ask me how i know
Buy the emblems from HD, marginally better quality but still made in China. If the 59-60 emblems are the ones you want, originals can also be found on the Bay for reasonable money, just buy the stick on backing plate from HD. On my 1997 Wide Glide, as stated blue loctite on the little screws.

These are the ones I am wanting to use. Just was not sure how close the curvature is to the later touring tanks.
Those will not bend, they come curved. You put some painters tape on your paint and slide the emblem around until you find the SPOT that the two curves meet. Have someone there watching from a distance to spot you for height and angle. You want the tail down or level, never tail up. Find the spot you like and stick it on. The other side is located by again a spotter far away and yourself looking straight down at the tank. Good luck.
