Shoei Neotec series have built in areas for an optional Sena RL comm and speaker system. Currently the Neotec 2's are on sale as the Neotec 3's are about to be released in the US. I have a Neotec 2 and love it. Keeps me connected to my GPS and music. That's all I really use it for.

I have the Sena in my GT Air2. To me it is just a pain in the but to operate. The sound is not stellar either, to me its either to loud or to soft with nothing in-between. The operational part is probably my fault, when I decide to use it. I have forgotten the way it works.

resurrected for an update to my advice in this post.. I have the Gearlec, or Gearelec Gmax. Installed in my helmet and my wifes helmet. Just had a little 550 mile trip where we actually used the intercom. Seemed ok. 70+ mph in higher head on and crosswinds, the type that rattle your helmet pretty good and I have an HJC helmet and my wife has a cheaper closed face as well. Not quiet helmets, our intercom audio was breaking up and choppy and hard to understand, however that was the only time. Range seemed a bit overrated as when we got 1/4 mile or more apart it wasn't as clear either, still worked but not perfect, normal conditions 60 mph in reasonable conditions they were fine. easy to comunicate. Making calls works, listening to music is fine. Seems better bass in the house, just a function of road noise I think sapping the bass quality some. they did what they are designed to do and thats to let us alert each other to needed stops and scenery or give upcoming direction. for the price great purchase. Just be sure speaker is centered over your ear as helmets are not exact for this location. Battery Life is great, I tried to kill it but I gave up and charged it. No clue how long it lasts but it is long!!

Not sure of what ear buds your using, but I running a set of Edifier TWS1 pro's, that is working very well for me in my half shell and full face helmets as well.

The only downside to maybe a full face helmet is getting to them to tap to change settings,, if getting to the phone or add on blue tooth controller is not an option.
Hence the downside to blue tooth helmet speakers, is forgetting to recharge them, while with most new ear buds, when there not in your ears, they are in the case charging instead. And your not going to get the Hi FI sound of out helmet speakers, that your will get out of decent ear buds in the first place.

Short of that, as stated the Cardo system with JBL speakers are not bad, plus your getting com system with back passenger, and even other rides in the group if that is your thing being a chatty Cathy during the entire ride.

Note, found out a long time ago, don't mind chatting with the wife on the back during long trips , but still turn her head set from voice action, to push to talk activation, to slow her down so she is not like a squire in a tree chirping away the entire time no stop. If I can ever find a back rest that has a video display screen in the back so she can watch her stories when bored looking at the scenery during the long trips , perfection in the making.
Why Harley has not come up with such yet to tie into USB on the radio on separate channels, like they have for cars and the kids, still bewilders me.
Next step would be to tie it into something like a tracvision satellite receiver, which she does not even need to record her show to usb stick to watch later on the bike, and can want watch them in real time instead.
