07 RK Custom vs 08 RK Classic

RE: 07 RK Custom vs 08 RK Classic
I have the '07 Classic and love it. The '08s seems a little more polished/trimmed to me, though I don't like the tank. With all the complaining on the '07s, You might find the '08 a little better. As for color, I was originally after a Dyna Low Rider in White gold pearl... its a great color, especially in the sun. Ended up with Fire Red/Black pearl... very nice looking but if you ride a lot, you'll start seeing the weart on the darker colors quicker and they are much harder to keep from showing spots.
Thanks for you service!

It's a tough decision to make.......but maybe you need to take a sheet of paper and write down the pros and cons of the two models. Since this is the last year the Custom is being built, I would think they are going fast. If you are interested in a low mileage 07Custom in black, I just read this thread from a member.

The 07 customs are set up to accept cruise control and many of the optional accessories for the Road Kings. I also loved the cleaner look of the Custom and bought mine in vivid black. Was really glad I bought the bike when i did and I'm loving every minute riding it. I would also research the cost of painting the components black if all else fails. It all comes down to what you really want and how much you are willing to spend to get there. Good luck with your decision.

the 08is the better deal --- easier and cheaper to take stuff off---can always look to eBay to get custom parts

If you are able to get an 08 for $100 more than an 07, I say jump on the 08. A year newer and, by all accounts, some nice improvements with the Brembo brakes, rear pulley shock absorber, six gallon tank, and super smooth throttle by wire. The 08 will have a better resale out the door of the dealer than an new 07 too.

Hogwallop- thanks for the heads up on that thread. I contacted the guy and he made me what I thought was a killer deal. As fate would have it, I will be traveling next week an will be about 30 miles from him. Plus a friend of mine lives 45 min from him and will store the bike untill I can ship it and help out with picking it up. Talk about wierd luck. This bike has exactly everything I wanted. Dude, I owe you a beer.
Thanking you!

I'd say go with the 08 Classic. It's a great ride and like others have been saying, it has lots of nice features (windshield, extra headlamps, cruise control, bigger tank in the 08...) Color is one of the most expensive things to change, so I'd have to say that you're not doing yourself a favor by "settling" on a color if you're going to be out $17k for a new bike. That's a heck of alot of money to do any compromising. Good luck.
