Quote: Take them out, chrome them, polish, or just re-plate them. If you would have sprayed down your bike with mineral spirits & water than blow-dry it after washing or when you come home after rain, you would not be in that situation. Been doing this for 39 years and the old timers told me then. You can buy paint thinner (cheep Mineral Spirits) @ home depot for $7/gal. Mix 50% water/thinner spray in a fog. Blow dry, & wipe down than polish with wax. Also removes road grime.

By putting your reply in bold, I take it you are aggregated or yelling back at me. Please accept my apology for any disrespect so unintentionally perceived by you. I did not know that this bike was used, you did not say that. Please disregard any suggestions I have given you. I shall not make that mistake again. Again, I apologize.
Retired Ted... I beg to differ with you on the hot toppers trapping moisture and them falling off regularly. I put them on every Harley I buy and when they snap down over the bolt head there's no way for water to get in and the only ones that are bad about falling off are the ones they provide for the rocker box bolts and if you do what they say and apply a little dab of silicone to those they will stay on also.
I think if you check the hot toppers out, you'll find that there are some in some locations that are held on better with a dab of silicone (as recommended by the company) but for hot toppers, they snap in place with NO metal at all behind them and are guaranteed against peeling, discoloration or loss for the life of the product.
Something I've been thinking about:
Search Ebay for item # 120157044526 or seller: http://stores.ebay.com/AlloyBoltz-Stainless-Steel-Kits
Haven't used them, so don't know a lot about them, but they look like a good product. Was thinking about them for the Sporty some time ago. Kept the seller as a favorite.

Thanks for the clarification. I spend lots of time putting in my 2 cents in sharing my experience with scoots. I do not think i know much, however, when I need a question answered, generally, you can get it answered here.
