Anyone ever try WD-40?

May sound silly but it works wonders on bug juice. It has a Kerosene basein it.(that's also why you should never use it as a lubricant)

It also works great on road tar. I've never had any paint issues with it but I do clean it off and quick wax after.

Enjoy --> Reksul
I had a big fight with my wife when she wanted to wash her bike with keroscene. (We are talking about just a half cup in a bucket of water.) Anyway she won, her brother is an old body/paint guy and swears by it.Works great on bugs, tar, what ever you have.Made me eat crow.

The Honda cleaner is Fantastic! cleanse the whole bike without much effort. If you have a problem with going the the Honda dealership ( I don't) you can order online from Honda Direct Line, cheaper by the case, split it between your riding buddies or give them a can ( that jester may come in handy when you need a favor)

Plexus and Honda cleaner are not the same....careful with the Pledge around you seat, can discolor your seat, Honda cleaner works great on you seat, doesn't make it slick like Armour All....[sm=smiley20.gif]
I have found another product call Pro Wash, comes in a 16oz bottle and mixes with water, makes a gallon....good stuff, but not as good a Honda Spray Cleaner.....

Also, if you like using products such as Maguires or other type cleaner and don't want to take a large bottle on trips, find a lady friend that goes to or knows someone that attends those "Pampered Chef" parties, have them get you a turkey baster...a little bottle with a pump top. Fill the bottle with your favorite cleaner, pump the top and it creates pressure inside, use it like a spray bottle, when finished, open the top a little and the pressure is released, pack away in tourpac or bags. Works like a charm...[sm=smiley2.gif]

Honda no longer produces the original Honda Cleaner that worked so well for so long. The current stuff that is unfortunately still labeled Honda Cleaner, is NOT the same stuff. Comes in smaller cans and is much more abrasive to the finish.

However, Kawasaki seems to have either directly copied or even purchased the rights to the orignial Honda Cleaner secret sauce, because the stuff now sold at Kawasaki dealers- KawiClean, is the exact replacement for the original Honda Cleaner, heck it even smells the same. So be very careful.

One other trick I learned many moons ago when I worked part time at a local airport was to mix some baking powder in hot water, works wonders at neutralizing the bug juice acid and helps it come off much easier.

Fabric softner sheets work really really well - clean off the bike as soon as you get done with the ride - if not 2 things will happend 1. It could damage your finish(love bugs) 2. they will really be hard to get off. Someone wrote the sprayed WD 40 on them and they cam off - ain't get the cajones to try that one.

Agreed...used to use a kerosene rinse all the time. I'm not sure that modern clear coats will react as well, but it used to work just fine.

I recently changed from regular Pledge to the new multi-surface version, works even better...one shot and a swipe with a micro fireb, clean and shiney.

Wash em off with soap and water. Then get what was missed with Plexus. Then you can just wipe them off after each ride with a damp towel. Polish with a soft towel. Works good till you need another full wash. I use Plexus on all the paint and chrome on the bike. Even the forks that are not chrome. Works good on the windshield an mirrors too. It leaves a good slick finish, beads water and easier than wax. I wiped my bike this past weekend with a damp rag at least 3 times all over, then dried as I went, it is still slick. Plexus, good stuff.

Honda cleaner on the paint, Plexus on the windshield. They are NOT the same. Both work wonders.

Novis 1 works great. Just spray it on let it sit use your finger nail to scratch it off then wipe.
