Tire puncture - how much new tire and recommendations?
Hi,
I have an '07 Street Glide, approx 4,000 miles. Found myself with a flat at work in parking lot. Pulled a 4" long screw out of rear tire, then patched with Slime patch kit. First time I've ever done that, took me 3 tries to finally pull out the needle without removing the plug at the same time, and the job ain't all that great - but worked enough to get home. I also carry a small 12v compressor with me.
Question: Any clue what a new rear tire and installatin will cost me? Can I get a Dunlop tire cheaper elsewhere and take it to the dealer? Any guestimates on how long a dealer takes to do this?
Thanks!

You can definitely get a price cheaper online than at the dealer but it depends on how long you want to be down. You can try www.americanmototire.com for some good prices. Normally dealer will charge for 1 hour labor.

I put a new rear tire on my 07 SG last week at an Indy shop. Wore the stock 402 out at 8700 miles. Rode it in and it cost me $212 out the doorfor a new Metzler 880, size 140-16. It took about an hour. Dealer wanted $275 for the same servicebut with another 402. The Metzler seems to track better on the freeway with the grooves. I'm satisfied.

I just changed back to a 402 this weekend. My Metz 880 was dry rotted after 7 months and 6k miles, plus it had a nail in it. Always inflated to 50 psi. Cost to bring wheel in to dealer with 1/2 hr labor $182 .......Dunlops may suck but I have never had one dry rot in 7 months.
