diference betwen flhr-i and flhrp-i
What are the differences in an 06 flhrp-i police road king) and a regular 06 flhr-i? I've read the gearing is different. I've read the shock are longer. Does anyone know for sure what the diff is? I've tried to do a comparison on the Harley site but the police bike is not an option.

no difference. Except that the police bike might have ABS, seat configuration and switches for siren and red lights.
For 07 & 08 the engine is larger...103".
everything else is the same...forks, gearing, wheelbase, compression ratio......
And the police roadking is now known as FLHP or FLHPI in 06....the I is for injected and now that all touring bikes are injected they just decided to drop the I.
For specs on the police bikes go to www.Harley-davidsonpolicemotors,com

If you use the search funtion at the top of the page you will find many threads discussing the differences between the two models.
The most accurate way to do it is to go to your dealer parts counter and get both parts manuals, have a cup of coffee and compare the parts/part numbers of the components you are interested in.
I did this for the '06 models (I have an '04 police EG) on a rainy day waiting to for the rain to stop and found the cams, pistons, heads, and gearing were identical for the two versions. Didn't check the shocks.
The major differences are the switches in the switch housing (siren, pursuit lamps, etc.) and the police model's clutch interlock switch that requires the clutch to be squeezed to start the engine (same feature that is on '07 and newer touring bikes). The electrical differences are very easy to change to the civilian version (to get rid of the red switches or add chrome switch housings if you like).
Cosmetically, the police RK is probably most similar to the RK Standard with the passing lamps ("pursuit lights" in Harly police model terminology), chrome saddlebag guard rails, fender tip lights, pancake turn signals, and hard saddlebags. The hockey puck mechanism on the saddlebags can easily be removed and replaced with chrome or black flush mount pushbutton mechanisms. Of course the police bike has the air seat which many civilian owners keep, but it is easily removed along with the air tank, gauge, and bladder.
Anything you can put on a civilian RK you can mount/install on a police model (solo or two-up seats, backrests, tour paks, etc. HTH.

Go to the Harley site, click on Police & Fire Rescue and scroll down. You can download the police catalog. It has all the specs. Basically, the cop bike comes with the 103" engine, a single inflatable seat, bead retention tires and I think some electrical upgrades. The available colors are different from the stock, as well.

My 07 does not have the abs, it's a 96 and it has a huge oil cooler mounted on the lower down tubes. It still has the flashing front lites although they are now amber and the siren switches are still there but do nothing. All of the police related switches are red. It was a police bike from Spring, Tx.
