I'm starting to lean toward the DragonFly. Thelines do look cleaner than the Quadzilla.

Rico,
Thanks for all the detailed info! Another couple of questions: Does the radio have a weather door? Did your wheels raise your ride height? My RKC is dropped 1 1/2" from stock with Progressive Suspension components. I have a short inseam, so any height increase would be a show-stopper for the wheels.

I have a slighlty damaged Quadzilla for sale. Since you gotta take it to the painter anyway, what's a little body work. $799 It has a big clear windshieldand the eclipse stereo CD, 4 speakers (plays fine)

If your reading this now the fairing has been sold!

Yes there is a weather door on the radio that slides open and close to wash the fairing. You really can't notice the difference with the 21" wheels. You know it's a bit higher but yet you can't tell by riding. I'm thinking of just leaving it alone because the change wasntthat noticable. You should be fine. Also HD does make spring kits to lower your bike that half inch. I wouldn't let that be your decision. My wheels attract so much attention. Good luck

Hey there from Dead Center Cycles. It's great to see that these conversations seem to be getting more and more common! I just wanted to clarify a couple of things that came up in regards to the Dead Center Fairing. While we do not have a "sealed" stereo box we do install a drip guard above and a splash guard below the stereo compartment. This configuration allows for easy access when adding amps or satellite radio, effectively prevents rain from getting into the fairing via deflection off of the nacelle and directs any moisture that may enter from above around the stereo compartment and out the bottom of the fairing.

The locking michanism actually wraps entirely around the quick detachpost making it necessary to pull the entire mount to remove it. A person could not just undo the nuts and take it off.

Good luck Steve!

Wide open fairings are made of plastic, not fiberglass. Sold without stereo.

Firebagger makes a nice looking locking unit similar to DCCand resonably priced, but I havecontacted them and they have yet to respond.

I chose the Quadzilla fairing and have had no problems. Absolutely love it and it was worth every penny. Stereo is plenty loud at any speed and as far as not locking, I don't see a problem with it. You'd have to undo the nuts for the passing lights to pull it off.

I'm sure the ABS is lighter. The only things I don't care for are the brushed look of the mounting brackets and the cheap looking weather-strip along the base of the windshield. Even though it is less expensive at $799 with stereo (no paint available),the cheezy rubber strip pretty much knocks this one out of the running.
