Auxiliary Running Light / Brake Light / Turn Signal Conversion Kit

The signal/running lights do not light up very well when the brakes are applied, do I need a different type of bulb or different sockets for a two stage bulb, I was hoping that they would light up more when the brakes are applied.

 

What bike? What kit? What bulbs do you currently have? You don't need a two filament bulb; the change in brightness is done with the voltage through the module.

 

I had the same problem, on a trip a couple buddies commented on how "un-noticeable" my brake light was with this conversion kit. Basically with the blinker lights as running lights and the slight brightness change made it very difficult to tell if I was on the brakes. Another guy on the same trip had a module that did not leave the blinkers on as running lights but only came on when braking.....this was much more noticeable. I took my module out after seeing what they were talking about. I think the older modules were just brake and not running.

t williams said it best the older module like on my 05 King used the turn signals as aux brake lights only when the brakes were applied. The new module leaves the tuen signals on all the time like running lights. I went to the Harley dealer and tried to find a oldmodule andthey replied saying harley is not making them any more. I bet someone makes a aftermarket module like jp cycles or kuryakn

 

Ive thought about making my own, i went and picked up all the parts with the exception of the modulator, ill put it togeather and see if it works. If it does ill send out the part numbers required along with the directions, Ive also thought about cutting the new one apart and disabling the running lights, what if I changed out the receptical to a two point like the brake light?

 

I also purchaced the new type module thinking it was the same as I had in my 02 RoadKing, Making extra brake lights out of my rear signals.I didn't realize it had the running light feature that I don't like. I wonder if the old style module will work in my 07 SG?

 

I have the big K run turn and brake am very happy with it.....Jer

I just did a search before I asked if anyone knew of a "fix" to eliminate the harley units running light function. My buddy has the new harley and I hate following him. Followed a bagger into work last week and loved the way his turns lit up when he braked. Curious if there is an either an after market solution of a way to modify the Harley kit.
