Doing them over and painting bolt heads all over the scoot as well with engine enamel ...simply **** to make mah mistress stand out! Beer and spay paint makes you do all sorts of ****! Front wheel is off and getting polished too!

help --- fix for heat shields.

2009 FLHPI 10,300 miles.

I have honked down on em as hard as I can and then locktite and I still have the rattle.

Any change the durn screw clamps just need to be replaced? This normal?

Looking for a DIY repair here

Shims between the tabs and the pipes. Use steel.

Gauge / thickness of shim?

What's causing the rattle? I can't find where the shield is hitting the pipe anywhere. I get the shims will step the shield away from the pipe if I am understanding what you want me to do correctly.

Is the desired use of the shims to step the shield away from the pipe or to act as a bushing between the pipe and heat shield loop?

Forgive me, it's late and I barely have one eye open.

Get a chunk of exhaust pipe, and cut out some 1/2 round by 1 inch pieces. This will give the clamps some more grab, and also move the shields away from the pipe.

Or you could buy new clamps

bolt paint sucked. used high heat engine enamel and after drying when i went to torque em down they just kept chipping and flaking off...so i polished them for now. i really wanna do them in black as the contrast effect was truly killer. any ideas short of powder coat?

I found that if I am having an issue triggering a stop light, I just kick the kickstand down and those sensors picks it up. Works great!
