As soon as you cross a state line, in states that have laws that neighbor states that do not have laws, That is the first thing they look for. No helmet, you are tagged right away. Bring a helmet with you, be sure it is DOT and put it on before crossing the state lines.

In Oregon, you will be pinched in a heart beat. You won't be allowed to ride off without wearing one.

Better bring a cheap one with you, you can get the hole group pulled over and hassled, why risk it?

On another note, helmets are not for everyone but this year I chose to wear a 3/4 the entire 4000 mile round trip to Sturgis. You would be suprised of how your not wind beaten after being in it all day. You end up being really relaxed at the end of the day, keeps the hot sun off as well. Again, not for everyone, just my experience.

If you come through California you better have a helmet or they will ding you. I have never been stopped for wearing a none DOT beanie helmet, but then again you never know.

Got one in Samson Park, Texas (North Fort Worth), oh, 25 some odd years ago. Cop was having a bad day. Cited me for Exhibition of accelleration, Excessive Noise, No Helmet, and no inspection sticker.

Thing was, I was wearing a DOT Approved Helmet but the sticker inside was worn and wasn't real readable. I had an inspection sticker on a plate bracket which came from the dealer like that, but he said it wasn't visible from his car so it was invalid.

Excessive noise, maybe, 4 into 1 header with collector and I did have a baffle. Exhibition, well, no wheelies but it took about5 seconds from 0 to 55 which isn't on it that hard.

I chaulked it up for Samson Park Revenue.

Well if you have an 07 bike as your name suggests you should have recieved a HOG map with your free 1 year HOG membership.I keep it with me at all times as there has been more than one occasion when I went out for a short 2 hour ride only to come home in 3 days (thank god my wife is cool). Anyway in the map is a section outlining helmet laws by state. In matter of fact it has highlights of most motorcycle laws within.
