I can now say I have actually pulled it apart. The throttle sensor is on the work bench. There is an extra 5.25 inches slack in the sensor wires, once you get it released under the outer fairing. The sensor simply slides out the end of the bar and unplugs about 8 inches back from the sensor. This is all from an 08 RG. If interested in what we are dealing with e-mail me asking for pictures. Too large for me to post. orion1369@comcast.net
Click HERE to download something that may help ya'll out. The second page has a pic of the throttle sensor.

I plan to R&R my hand grips this weekend on my 2008 Road Glide.
Has any one done this on the new style throttle system yet?
I also hate the lack of feed-back from this new electrical throtle, I ran a carb on my last bike.
Exactly what sort of feedback are you looking for here? The way I see it, the ETC system on my 08 performs flawlessly. In fact I would be willing to bet if you were put on two random bikes...one with ETC and one without, you would have a very hard time telling the difference.

I just installed some new Iso grips from Kuryakyn on my 08 Ultra and what a breeze. No more throttle cabels & little brass ferrules to keep up with. Open up the handlebar clamp, slip old grip off, slide on new grip, screw clamp back together and procedd to the other side.

Old thread I know but looking at putting new grips on the 2008 Ultra this spring.

this video gives a good picture of the throttle 1:20-2:00 part of video. The left side grip and the 'drilling', I am assuming HD grips won't require that. No desire to 'drill' my bars.

Do you still need to put graphite on the bar under the throttle grip? I don't see them doing that in this video. (yes I have a manual but as I'm here typing 'now', thought I'd ask. Thanks.)
