Default IronButt Certificate FINALLY Arrived!

I did the SaddleSore 1000 last May, and yesterday I finally received the certificate and other stuff. Along with the Certificate, they sent a letter of apology for taking so long to get this out. Apparently they were short on reviewers for a while. No big deal for me though; I knew that it would come eventually.

THANKS IRONBUTT ASSOCIATION!

Cool.
I was going to try one last year , but I missed the preregistration deadline. Maybe this year if I find out about it in time.

Wow, really bad service. I understand they are based here in Tulsa, maybe I can volunteermy time and help them out. 6 months to 2 years is way too long to get the earned recognition for a SS1000. I've ridden 750 miles in a day several times and have great respect for you guys doing 1K in a day!

Congrats RanD; where did you go? I experienced a similar delay due to a shortage of reviewers; hopefully that's been corrected.

Pingman,

I rode from here in Tomahawk, WI to Winston-Salem, NC. Total mileage was 1052. I was trying to post a photo of my certificate, but experienced difficulty. Its been a long time since I posted a picture on here and I've forgotten how to do it.

Too bad that the ironbutt cert. was started after I did a roundtrip from L.A. to Tuscon and back to L.A. in a weekend in 1972.

if you want to do your own route, then you don't have to worry about preregistration deadlines. you just have to have a start witness, end witness, and save all your receipts.

congrats rand. i would like to do one, but the wife likes to stop around 500 miles or so.....

Shrek,

Scratch is right. You can do the ride whenever you want to. In fact, they suggest that you do it that way so that you are mentally and physically prepared (andso you can choose a good weather window). Go to their website (I think its IronButt.com?); the whole process is explained very thoroughly there.

Way to go RanD.

Me and 5 buddies did the 1000 mile and 1500 mile last Sept. Sent the paper work in about 2 weeks later and got our certs. in Dec. sometime. I believe ours went thru a little faster because we sent them all in a package so there was a little less checking that needed to be done. I will say that it is a real challenge to do such a ride with so many people. I think the iron butt association's life would be a lot easier if everyone were as patient as you are. Way to go!

Jeff
